OLUNIKÉ ADELIYI

 

A Canadian actor of Nigerian and Jamaican heritage. Olunike is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

She just finished a run in THE WELKIN at the Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto in the lead role, and can currently be seen in Paramount’s feature adaptation of Stephen King’s THE RUNNING MAN, with Glen Powell and Josh Brolin, directed by Edgar Wright. Shortly after, she will appear alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Johnny Lee Miller and Bel Powley in Sky’s limited series, INHERITANCE.

Last year, Oluniké starred in Barry Jenkins-penned feature FLINT STRONG (Amazon MGM Studios), opposite Ryan Destiny and Brian Tyree Henry, marking Rachel Morrison’s directorial debut. .

Other recent work includes Hulu’s limited series MIKE (about the life of Mike Tyson) written by Steven Rogers, directed by Craig Gillespie and executive produced by Margot Robbie, as well as the sci-fi martial arts feature ABSOLUTE DOMINION from writer/director Lexi Alexander with Patton Oswalt and Alex Winter.

Theatre work includes Trey Anthony’s play ’DA KINK IN MY HAIR at the Bluma Appel Theatre.

Selected television credits include UNBROKEN (NBC pilot), THE PORTER (BET/CBC), AMERICAN GODS (Starz) and Netflix’s WORKIN’ MOMS. Guest roles include GUILTY PARTY, REPUBLIC OF DOYLE, LITTLE DOG and CORONER — the latter earning her a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Guest Performance in a Drama Series (2021).

Other film credits include THE PARTING GLASS (dir. Stephen Moyer) alongside Melissa Leo, Cynthia Nixon and Anna Paquin, SAW 3D, SHE NEVER DIED (Best Actress Award) and CHAOS WALKING (with Tom Holland).

Oluniké has received multiple nominations including “Best Supporting Actress” at the 2018 Canadian Screen Awards for BOOST, “Best Performance by a Female – Film” at the 2014 Canadian Comedy Awards for FRENCH IMMERSION, and she won the 2011 Black Canadian Award for Best Actress.
