PHILIP WOOD

Philip has directed 248 episodes of TV drama for all major British broadcasters; BBC, C4, C5, ITV and Sky. His own work has taken him inside prisons, on the streets of Manchester with rough sleepers for Film 4, and the hostile regions of SE Asia and former Yugoslavia for BBC, C4 and ZDF to name a few. Currently he is developing a mobile phone-based AR app for a major UK train company.

As a qualified teacher specialising in screen acting he has taught for the BBC and ITV and across drama schools, winning BAFTA sponsorship and commendations with BBC Carlton Hobbs. Former students can be seen on Dr Who, HBO, Vera and on Hollyoaks. 26 years ago Philip set up The Network, the educational arm of Edinburgh International TV Festival and his How to Survive Hostile Regions for journalists and NGOs continues to be led by AKE Security.
